| Using IGI
Batch Numbers on the LDS Website. 1. Go to the LDS website: http://www.familysearch.org/ 2. Click on "search" 3. Click on International Genealogical Index (in left column) 4. Enter the Surname you wish to search for. 5. Scroll down to the "region" selection tab. Pull down tab and scroll to the country area required. e.g. British Isles. 6. Enter the batch number provided for your parish in the "batch number" space. (NOTE: the codes begin with a CAPITAL letter, then a NUMBER "zero" (not the letter "O") 7. Click "search". This should return a list of all records for that surname from that particular extraction of that parish, enabling you to identify members of the same family...primarily in christening extractions. To find family groupings, follow the above instructions, but as well as entering the Surname, also add the father and mother's given names. It is now possible
to get a list of all the names extracted for a particular Batch Number. |
